On Thursday night`s episode ofSo You Think You Can Dance, another female dancer was eliminated from the competition. With but three girls remaining and all six male dancers still intact, it`s looking as though this season might go to one of the boys.
Cristina Santana, the most recent dancer to be eliminated, says "anything can occur" on the show. Keep reading for more details on Cristina`s departure and what the judges hold to say about this season`s crop of competitors_
Not surprisingly, Cristina Santana wasn`t quite quick to be eliminated fromSo You Think You Can Dance. After being in the ass three for two weeks in a row, the judges made the hard decision to place the salsa dancer home on Thursday night. Despite the fact that she gave a killer performance on Wednesday night`s show (a paso doble with ballroom All-Star Pasha), she didn`t receive enough votes to remain in the competition. When it came downward to her and tap dancer, Melinda Sullivan, the judges were divided on who to send packing.
"We look like Melinda grew the most last night because she did something totally out of her genre," Mia Michaels said almost the tap dancer."And she was pretty awesome. Other than that dress." Ultimately, the last decision about who to charge home came as a consequence of comparing Melinda Sullivan and Cristina Santana`s entire account on the show. The judges considered everything from their solo routines, partner routines, and opening numbers.
So You Suppose You Can Dance executive producer,Nigel Lythoe wasn`t too thrilled with the conclusion to send Cristina Santana home. He was outnumbered by Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman though in the vote."I guess she`s grown across the season," Lythgoe said about Cristina after Thursday night`s show. "And I thought she was fabulous last night."
Ultimately, the judges think the contest might end up with a male winner this season."I love male dancers unless the girls are but as strong,"Mia Michaels said. "We give some strong girls and I wish them to measure it up." Nigel Lythgoe agrees and isn`t surprised to see the men doing so well so far."How many girls have we had win? Two girls out of seven seasons," he said. "If it`s great dancing, I don`t care. It`s ever passing to be a boys club unless we get an outstanding girl."
Despite being the second dancer eliminated from the competition, Cristina Santana is handling it well."Anything can occur on this show," she told People magazine. "I wasn`t expecting not to be in the ass three. I`m actually pretty happy with what I`ve done, but it`s sad to go home."
