Normally outspoken Ravens` linebacker, Ray Lewis, is simply being himself when he claims that the want of an NFL season will do "so much wickedness" in the world. Afterall, Lewis` arrogance has always bordered on narcissism.

And his survey of the NFL`s importance shows exactly how far out from the ordinary person`s his existence is. According to ESPN:

"Do this research if we don`t make a season," Lewis tells ESPN`s SalPaolantonio. "Watch how much evil - which we name it crime - watch howmuch crime picks up if you carry off our game."

He says "too many people go through us."

Now, Lewis has a really good point. In fact, crime has already spiked during this lockout_amongst professional football players with too much time on their hands, that is. Is that the crime he as talking about? Crime committed by Albert Haynesworth, Dez Bryant, Kenny Britt, Mike Vrabel_you get the idea.Perhaps Lewis would care to expand on that. Hey, how about some follow-up questions, Paolantonio? Where were you on that one?

Obviously, Lewis likes giving back something to his community as indicated in the video. But the interview almost makes it sound like Lewis does it out of fear more than good will. Fear that, without football, kids and parents alike will make no trust in their own lives. That every Sunday, millions of mass in America "live through" the NFL. In a way, he posits the question "What would life for these sad, pathetic wretches be like without NFL football? Do we actually need to grasp such a catastrophe?"

Gee, thanks Ray. Thanks for pointing out how meaningless our world is without you.
